STEM-xhibitions Final Dissemination Event in Greece

The final dissemination event of the European project STEM-xhibitions, Code: 2022-FR01-KA220-SCH-66BBB945, was successfully concluded on December 6, 2024, at the General Lyceum of Proastio. This two-year project aimed to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education through an interdisciplinary approach, with a special focus on understanding and addressing climate change.

Climate Change and Education: A New Way of Thinking

Students and teachers participated in innovative activities that combined natural sciences, psychology, and the arts. Participants developed a deeper understanding of scientific concepts such as the greenhouse effect and the water cycle, while also raising awareness of the impacts of climate change on the environment and human health.

Collaboration and Creativity

The program emphasized collaboration both within and beyond the school environment. Students, teachers, and experts worked together to develop solutions and foster creativity. Activities included:

A visit to an innovation park to explore sustainable innovation and a visit to an environmental center in Pertouli, including forested areas affected by climate change.

A meeting with the head of EKFE Karditsa, who collaborated with students on specialized activities.

Engagement with specialists in painting and psychology, resulting in student-created artworks that expressed their views and emotions about climate change as part of the Science Art Café initiative.

Impactful Results

The project achieved:

Inspiring students to engage in STEM fields through real-world applications.

Strengthening key skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and communication.

Integrating artistic elements, allowing students to express themselves creatively.

Partners and Commitment to the Future

The program was implemented with the collaboration of schools and organizations from Greece (General Lyceum of Proastio), Croatia (Skola Ivanec), France (RDIUP), Spain (Mediacreativa), and Cyprus (Citizens in Power). The partners are committed to maintaining and updating the project’s online platform (http://stemexhibitions.com/) for at least three years beyond the program’s completion.

The school principal and European project coordinator, Mr. Emilios Vlastos, expressed his gratitude to the attendees, including:

Members of the school community.

Distinguished guests, such as Mr. Loukas Elias, Director of the Evening School of Karditsa; Mr. Gkatsis Aristeidis, Head of EKFE Karditsa; Ms. Alogariastou Stavroula, Head of the Karditsa Prevention Center; and Mr. Parlavantzas, Clinical Psychologist of the same center.

This collaborative effort has set the stage for ongoing innovation in education, inspiring students and educators to tackle the challenges of climate change with creativity and determination.
