We recently had the privilege of attending the 38th Panhellenic Conference of the Mathematical Society, held in the city of Serres, Macedonia, from November 24-26, 2023. The theme of the conference, « Modern Approaches and Applications of Mathematics in Education and Sciences, » provided a perfect platform for discussing innovative teaching methodologies and interdisciplinary connections within STEM education. 

The conference covered a wide range of topics, including: 

• The relationship between Mathematics and Informatics in Education and Science. 

• Mathematics Teaching and Inclusive Pedagogy in Mathematics Education. 

• Interdisciplinary approaches to Mathematics Education and its connection to other sciences. 

• General issues related to Mathematics education. 

A key highlight of our participation was the presentation by our parter, Mr. Emilios Vlastos, Director of the GEL PROASTIOU School, who introduced the topic « BINARY GAME » in the large amphitheatre of the University of Serres. This engaging card-based game is a part of the European STEM-xhibitions project, implemented by the school in collaboration with Citizens In Power, RDIUP, Srednja škola Ivanec, and Media Creativa 2020. Mr. Vlastos highlighted how the game serves as an innovative educational tool, demonstrating how mathematical concepts can be taught through interactive and engaging methodologies. 

The conference attracted approximately 800 teachers, researchers, and visitors, providing an excellent opportunity to share insights, exchange ideas, and strengthen our commitment to promoting STEM education through creative approaches.
